Rooted & Regulated: Connecting Christian Faith with Your Daily DBT Practice
Your mental health tools and your heart for God were never meant to live in two different worlds.
Bridge the gap between your DBT practice and your Christian faith with a gentle morning touchpoint that transforms your perspective in just five minutes a day.
A quick note before we begin: our core DBT skills classes are secular and open to people of every faith and no faith at all, and that is not changing. Rooted & Regulated is one of our optional faith-based offerings, created for the members who asked for one. Whatever you are looking for, there is a place for you here.
I get it. I really do. You are working so hard to manage your emotions, to stay grounded, and to navigate the “waves” that life throws your way. You love the skills you are learning in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). They are practical, they work, and they give you a roadmap when things feel chaotic. But sometimes, when you are sitting in a secular space learning about mindfulness or radical acceptance, there is a tiny whisper in your heart that asks: Where is God in this?
You might feel like you are leading a double life. On one hand, you have your therapy worksheets, and on the other hand, you have your Bible. You want them to meet. You want to know that the God who created your beautiful, sensitive soul is also the God who can use these skills to bring you peace.
What you have tried so far hasn’t worked because you have been trying to keep your spiritual life and your emotional regulation in separate boxes. For some of us, practicing the skills without naming our faith can feel like leaving part of ourselves at the door. When we try to “just pray it away” without using the practical tools God has provided through psychology, we often end up feeling frustrated and defeated.
What you will learn through a faith-integrated approach will help because it brings your whole self to the table. It’s time to stop choosing between your faith and your healing. This is a dialectic, the very heart of DBT: two things that can feel opposed, your faith and the science of these skills, can both be true at once. They do not compete. They synthesize. You do not have to abandon one to hold the other.
A Gentle Daily Touchpoint: Rooted & Regulated
I am so excited to introduce you to Rooted & Regulated, our Daily DBT Devotional morning email service. I want to be very clear from the start: this is not a class. There is no homework to turn in, no “group” to join, and no pressure to perform.
Instead, think of this as a warm, cozy cup of coffee for your soul. Every morning, you receive a gentle email that connects one specific DBT skill with a heart for God. It is designed to be a soft place to land before your day gets busy.
For 13 years, DBT Path has been a sanctuary for those seeking emotional growth. We have built a legacy of privacy, safety, and deep compassion for the emotionally sensitive community. While our core classes are inclusive of all backgrounds (and we love that!), Rooted & Regulated was created specifically by request. So many of you asked for a way to connect your skills with your Christian faith, and we listened.
Why Integration Matters: The “Secret” to Lasting Change
The most profound healing happens when your brain and your spirit are working in harmony. When you combine the science of DBT with the truth of Scripture, you aren’t just “managing” symptoms anymore. You are being transformed.
When you start your morning with a faith-centered DBT focus, you are setting a spiritual “filter” for your day. You begin to see your “wise mind” as a place where the Holy Spirit can provide guidance. You begin to see “radical acceptance” as a form of sacred surrender.
What you need is a daily reminder that you are not alone in this journey. What you need is a way to keep these skills top-of-mind without feeling overwhelmed by a textbook.

Connecting the Four Core Skills to Your Walk with God
In Rooted & Regulated, we look at the four pillars of DBT through a Christian lens. It’s a beautiful way to see how God’s wisdom has always pointed toward balance and health.
1. Mindfulness: Filling Your Awareness with God
Secular mindfulness often focuses on “emptying the mind” or observing the present moment. While that’s helpful, Christian mindfulness goes a step further. We focus on being present so that we can be aware of God’s presence. It is about “becoming still” (Psalm 46:10) and noticing the beauty and the breath that God provides right now.
2. Distress Tolerance: The Path of Surrender
One of the hardest DBT skills is Radical Acceptance. It feels impossible until you realize that Jesus modeled this for us in the Garden of Gethsemane. When he said, “Not my will, but yours be done,” he wasn’t being passive. He was practicing the ultimate form of acceptance and trust in the Father. When we use distress tolerance skills, we are trusting that God is sovereign even in the middle of our pain.
3. Emotion Regulation: Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit
DBT teaches us how to identify and manage our emotions so they don’t drive the car. This aligns perfectly with the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are the very things DBT helps us build!
4. Interpersonal Effectiveness: Loving Your Neighbor (and Yourself)
God calls us to love others, but He also gives us the wisdom to set boundaries. Jesus was incredibly assertive, he knew when to say no, and he knew how to speak truth in love. DBT gives us the “how-to” for these biblical principles.
Is This For You? (A Gentle Fit-Check)
I want you to feel completely at ease about whether this is the right next step for you. Rooted & Regulated is a perfect fit if:
- You are already familiar with DBT (or currently learning) and want to see it through a Christian perspective.
- You feel overwhelmed by long devotionals but love a “bite-sized” morning reflection.
- You want a daily “nudge” to stay in your skills without the commitment of a live class.
- You value your privacy and prefer to process your faith and mental health journey quietly and personally.
- You are looking for a gentle, caring tone rather than a clinical or judgmental one.
- You are already steady in your skills and your faith, and you simply want the two to finally speak with one voice each morning.
If you are looking for a deep-dive, lecture-style education on the mechanics of DBT, you might prefer our full classes. But if you want a daily, spiritual “hug” that keeps your heart rooted in God and your mind regulated by skills, this is for you!

Don’t Wait: Take the First Step Toward a More Peaceful Morning
You don’t have to keep struggling to bridge these two worlds on your own. Let us help you start each day with clarity, faith, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Today is the perfect day to commit to a smaller, more manageable way of practicing your skills. Imagine waking up to an email that doesn’t ask anything of you but instead gives you a moment of peace and a practical tool to use for the next 24 hours.
Go for it! Your sensitive soul deserves a practice that honors your faith and your mental health.
